Money Matters (The Cost) |
| |
| All St Chad's Volunteers are
funded in part by their local church (ie their home church), partly
by the receiving church or parish and partly by themselves. St
Chad's Trust will provide a bursary varying according to
circumstances. |
| Excluding the cost of board and
lodging, which is generally part of the host church contribution,
the total cost, including air-fares, subsistence allowance and other
programme expenses, is in the region of £3,600
per volunteer. |
| Volunteers from the Diocese of
Lichfield and their home church will be asked to raise up to half
this amount, depending on their circumstances. Partner churches
overseas contribute according to their means to the costs of the
volunteers they send: a minimum contribution will be negotiated on a
case-by-case basis. For volunteers coming to the UK from Malaysia,
this 'local church contribution was around RM1500. In the UK,
sending churches and outgoing volunteers together will be asked to
raise a minimum of £1,300. |
| What proportion of this is raised
by the volunteer him/herself is subject to negotiation, but one
condition of participation in the programme is that the volunteer's
local church must own the participant by contributing a substantial
part of whatever local contribution is agreed. |
| Volunteers from the Diocese of
Lichfield have to pay the full cost of their own insurance. |
| Volunteers from Malaysia to the UK
(or their church or diocese) must arrange travel insurance (both
ways) and additional cover for up to two weeks after their arrival.
From that point onwards their insurance costs in the UK, up to the
day of their departure from the Lichfield diocesan area at the end
of their placement, will be arranged through the Lichfield World
Mission Programme and paid for by St Chad's Trust. |
